I have finally brought my head out of the water. Lots to do and so little time to do it all. My work load keeps me working my regular hours and any extra time I can put in at home at night so after spending so much time on my PC I don't even want to enter anything into the blog. I figured I better put something in it to catch everyone up on what we have been doing.
We finally decided to get carpet in the family room instead of wood again or tile. We went with a very thick pad and thick carpet. The kids love it so much they have been sleeping on it every night for about a week. Maxie has decided she likes it much better than the couch, so I have my couch back!
I have to admit, it does feel good to walk on after a long day at work. Since Lake Palestine we have been doing things around town. Our first stop was to go see the
Phantom of the Opera. This is the third time I have seen this and each time it is just as fabulous as the first time I saw it in NY. Our seats were really close and the girls enjoyed it as much as the movie, they sang along to every song. I had to nudge Dennis a few times to keep him from falling asleep! Our next stop was Space Center Houston. This place was definitely crowded, but of course, it was a Saturday. The kids played on the indoor playground, we saw and touched the moon rocks, some space capsules and a couple of movies about space than it was time to leave. I redeemed my ticket for a discount off of a family membership because we would definitely have to return to see the rest.
On our way back home, we met Dennis, Celeste, and Alicia at the
Houston Dynamos game at Robertson stadium in UH. It turned out to be a great soccer game. They beat DC United 4-3 and the confetti was all over the field and air. They were giving out free Dynamo beach towels to everyone, so we each nabbed one. Thanks Coach Joe for the free tickets. The next weekend we used the tickets that Denise won from the
Houston Health Museum to see the exhibit on Mars. After seeing that exhibit, why would we want to land on Mars? It would take us 6 months to get there, our bodies would be exposed to radiation and there is no air or vegetation. Not in my lifetime at least. We tried to go to see the Terra Cotta Warriors at the Museum of Natural Science but they were closing early for a special engagement so we will have to see that some other day. Instead, we went to the
Downtown Aquarium for Halliburton Day. The tickets to see the aquarium and ride all the rides was $5 per person for Halliburton employees compared to paying $16.
I saved some but spent my savings at the restaurant afterwards. After seeing the best aquariums in the Bahamas it would be hard to top that off, but the Downtown Aquarium was a close second. Their aquarium and the white tiger area were incredible.
Riding the ferris wheel was fun to see all the beautiful buildings downtown and the train was entertaining. The food at the restaurant was good but the tanks with fish made the price of the food worth it. Our waiter was really knowledgable about all the fish in the tanks and because of that, I gave him a big tip. That's all for this weekend until next weekend when we visit our folks in Port Arthur and Baton Rouge.
